Students to get guidance on choosing a career wisely
Bangalore: The edition of the annual The Hindu Career Counselling and Guidance session for students passing out of classes 10, 12 and PUC will be held here on June 3, providing an opportunity to the students to take the first important step towards choosing a career.
This year's session comes with an attractive package of exclusive sessions addressed by resource persons from the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).
With the counselling process for the Common Entrance Test (CET) going online this year, two senior officials from the KEA will provide an insight into the new admission procedure to the students and explain the steps that are to be followed while choosing the courses and colleges while filling up the applications online.
The officials from the KEA who would also be in the panel of experts, would be available to answer the queries of the students during the question and answer session.
The annual career counselling session will be inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Vishal R, who will also release the 120-page handbook brought out by The Hindu Education Plus, providing a mine of information through well-researched articles by experts from different fields on the avenues available for students in the professional courses and pure sciences, mathematics, animation and fine arts.
The panel of experts will answer the queries of participants and their parents. Among the panellists are two-time B.C. Roy Award winner and Member of the Academic Council of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and Emeritus Professor of Medicine P.S. Shankar, who would answer questions on the opportunities available in medicine, Avinash Sambrani, Associate Professor in the Industrial Production Department in PDA College of Engineering, Gulbarga, Anilkumar Bidwe of the Appa Institute of Engineering Technology, who will handle questions regarding engineering courses, Narendra Badsheshi, principal of the M. S. Irani Degree College who will speak on the opportunities available in fields other than medical and engineering and Anand Raj and N.V. Shashidhar from the KEA, who will clear doubts about the new online admission process.
For the second consecutive year, the participating students will get an opportunity to take up the ĎAptitude and Assessment Test' for free by the Bangalore-based education consulting agency MeriTrac.
The session will be held at Doddappa Appa Auditorium on the premises of the Sharanabasaveshwar Residential School Complex in Gulbarga from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
